Home Theater & Audio Installation in Utah

Your living room TV is mounted on the wall but the HDMI cable hangs six inches below it. Your surround sound receiver turns on but only three of five speakers actually work. You spent $800 on a Sonos system six months ago and it still is not connected properly to your TV.

The home theater setup that was supposed to feel like a cinema feels like an ongoing project. WITS IT Services installs, wires, and calibrates home theater and audio systems across Utah homes — from a single TV wall mount with every cable hidden inside the wall to a full 7.1 Dolby Atmos surround system in a dedicated theater room to whole-home Sonos audio playing the same music in every room and on the back patio simultaneously.

We calibrate every installation. We mount TVs on any wall type including drywall, brick, stone, and above fireplaces. All cables are concealed before we leave.

Home theater and audio installation fails when it is treated as a mounting job. Where a TV sits, where each speaker goes, how the room acoustics interact with the system — these are design decisions that determine whether your investment sounds and looks the way it was designed to. Before WITS runs a single wire, we conduct a $135 AV Design Consultation: a full room assessment where we determine the correct TV height and viewing angle for your seating position, lay out every speaker position to Dolby and DTS standards, plan the cable routing and concealment path for every component, and produce a written installation plan before any brackets are drilled or walls are opened.

The $135 applies in full toward your installation if you proceed with WITS. For Sonos and multi-room audio, the consultation also includes a WiFi assessment — because a whole-home audio system is a network installation, and dead zones and interference patterns will end it before the music starts.

Same-day TV mounting available. Full home theater and audio installations scheduled within the week. Serving Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, Provo, Ogden, Lehi, and the entire Wasatch Front. Call 385-242-2514 to schedule your AV Design Consultation.

Problems This Service Solves

Complicated Remotes

You need four remotes to watch TV: one for the TV, one for the cable box, one for the receiver, one for the soundbar. Pressing the wrong button in the wrong sequence means 10 minutes of troubleshooting. We program universal remote controls and smart home integrations — Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit — so one button press or one voice command powers everything on, sets the correct inputs, and dims the lights. You pick up one remote and it works.

Badly Concealed Wiring/Cabling

You paid real money for a beautiful TV and the cables hanging below it undermine the entire room. HDMI cables along the baseboard. Speaker wire visible along the baseboards to each corner. Power cords dangling behind the entertainment center. We run all cables inside the wall — HDMI, power, audio, speaker wire — and exit through professional keystone wall plates. The finished result looks like the cables were always invisible. Every wall type: drywall, brick, stone, and tile.

Audio System Issues

Speakers that cut out mid-song. Audio out of sync with video by half a second. A Sonos zone that drops offline every few days. An AV receiver that will not recognize devices through HDMI. Audio problems are frustrating because they are intermittent — hard to describe, hard to reproduce. We diagnose the full signal path: physical connections, firmware versions, network stability, and speaker calibration. We fix the actual cause for Sonos, Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, and Bose systems.

New Home Theater Setup Confusion

5.1 or 7.1 surround? Dolby Atmos or standard? In-wall speakers or freestanding? What screen size for your room? Which receiver has enough HDMI inputs? These are genuinely complicated questions and wrong answers cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. We help you spec the right system for your room dimensions, acoustics, and budget — then source the equipment and install everything from the first cable to the final calibration. You walk into a room that sounds exactly the way it should.

TV Mounted Above Fireplace — Needs Professional Setup

Above-fireplace TV mounting is one of our most common requests in Utah homes — and one of the most commonly done incorrectly. It requires a heat-rated mount and a heat deflector shield to protect the TV from rising warm air, an articulating mount that tilts the screen down to a comfortable viewing angle, and in-wall cable routing for HDMI, power, and audio so nothing is visible below the TV. We handle all of this in a single visit on any wall material: drywall, brick, or stone.

No Audio on the Back Patio or Outdoor Space

Utah summers are built for outdoor entertaining — and outdoor audio makes them significantly better. We install weather-resistant outdoor speakers on patios, decks, and pool areas, run speaker wire through exterior walls, and integrate outdoor zones into your existing Sonos or multi-zone audio system. We also install outdoor TV setups with commercial-grade weatherproof mounts for covered patio spaces. Your outdoor space can sound and look as professional as your living room.

How It Works

1

Audio & Theater Room Design

Before we mount a single bracket or run a foot of cable, we assess the room. We measure the distance from the primary seating position to the screen location and calculate the correct display size. We assess the room acoustics — hard surfaces, carpet, furniture density — and locate power outlets, wall studs, and existing cable conduit.

For surround sound systems, we identify the optimal speaker positions for the specific speaker format — 5.1, 7.1, or Dolby Atmos overhead channels — and explain the plan clearly before any work begins. You know exactly what the finished system will look and sound like before we touch a wall.

2

Professional Audio & Video Installation

We mount your TV at the correct height — center of screen at eye level from your primary seating position. All HDMI, power, and audio cables are routed through the wall and terminated with professional wall plates. Speaker wire is run through walls, across the attic, or under the subfloor as needed with no visible wiring anywhere in the room.

AV receivers, subwoofers, streaming devices, and cable boxes are organized in an equipment rack or cabinet with proper ventilation and every connection labeled. We install and configure Sonos, Denon, Yamaha, and Marantz receivers with the correct input assignments and speaker configurations.

3

Calibration

Once everything is installed and connected, we calibrate. For AV receivers, we run the built-in calibration tool — Audyssey MultEQ, YPAO, or MCACC depending on your receiver brand — with a calibration microphone to measure the acoustics of your specific room and adjust speaker levels, crossover frequencies, and equalization curves automatically.

For your TV or projector, we set color temperature, gamma, and peak brightness to the correct reference standard for your ambient light level — so the picture looks the way the director intended, not the oversaturated factory default. We test every source input before packing up and confirm you are satisfied with both image and sound.

The Calibration Step Most Installers Skip

Mounting a TV and running cables is the easy part of a home theater installation. What separates a genuinely great home theater from an expensive collection of equipment is acoustic and video calibration — and it is the step that handymen, big-box delivery services, and even many AV installers do not perform.

Acoustic calibration uses your AV receiver measurement microphone to analyze the sound from every speaker position in your specific room. It adjusts timing delays, frequency response, and speaker levels so every seat in the room hears correct stereo imaging and balanced bass. Without calibration a $2,000 speaker system sounds worse than it should.

Video calibration sets your display to reference color temperature and gamma so the picture looks the way a cinematographer graded it — not the oversaturated showroom mode that TVs ship in from the factory. WITS calibrates every home theater installation as part of the standard process.

Common questions about IT services for businesses and homes in Utah

Every WITS home theater project begins with a $135 AV Design Consultation — a full room assessment where we determine the correct TV height and viewing angle, lay out speaker positions to Dolby and DTS standards, plan all cable routing, and produce a written installation plan before any brackets are drilled or walls are opened. The $135 applies in full toward your installation if you proceed. Standard TV mounting takes 1–2 hours; a full surround sound setup takes 4–8 hours. Call 385-242-2514.

We install and configure all major home audio and theater brands. For whole-home audio, Sonos is our most recommended platform — we install all current Sonos models including Arc, Beam Gen 2, Era 100, Era 300, Five, Move 2, and Sonos Amp for connecting to existing in-wall speakers. For AV receivers we work with Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, and Onkyo — all supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS:X where applicable.

For speakers we install Klipsch, Polk Audio, SVS, and Sonance in-ceiling and in-wall models. We do not sell equipment — we install what you choose and configure it to perform correctly in your specific room.

Yes — in most Utah homes. We use fish tape to route speaker wire through wall cavities from the speaker location down to the AV receiver location, entering and exiting through small keystone wall plates that paint over cleanly. The result looks identical to a standard electrical outlet — completely flush with the wall.

The situations where this becomes more complex: exterior walls with dense insulation batts, walls with fire blocking installed between floors, and some older homes with unusual framing. We assess your specific wall construction during the $135 AV Design Consultation and explain exactly what is involved before starting. In every case we find a solution that keeps all wiring completely concealed.
