Utah's Low-Voltage Trade Partner for Custom Home Builders — Pre-Wire Through Commissioning

One low-voltage subcontractor. Every system. Pre-wire through commissioning. Statewide.

One low-voltage subcontractor. Every system. Pre-wire through commissioning. Statewide.

Your custom home clients expect technology that works. Not a router in the utility room and a hope it reaches the master suite. Not a smart home that requires three apps and a reboot when the lighting scene stops responding. Not cameras that go offline because nobody specified the PoE switch correctly. They expect a home where the network is invisible, the automation is reliable, and every system was designed — not installed. That requires a low voltage contractor who is in the project before framing closes. Most custom home builders in Utah are coordinating four or five separate low-voltage subs. WITS IT Services is one.

WITS IT Services is Utah's low-voltage trade partner for custom and luxury home builders statewide. We handle the complete low-voltage scope — structured cabling, enterprise networking, smart home integration, audio visual installation, security cameras, and access control — as a single subcontractor from your pre-wire window through client commissioning and handoff. One point of contact. One scope of work. One sub who shows up on schedule, documents the work, and trains the homeowner before you close out. Our engineers hold Cisco CCIE certification — the credential used to design network infrastructure for hospitals, data centers, and corporate campuses. We bring that engineering standard to every custom home project we touch, whether it is a two-bedroom mountain cabin in Huntsville or a ten-thousand square foot estate in Promontory.

How It Works

1

Design & Pre-Wire

We deliver a written pre-wire specification at project kickoff — formatted for your architectural drawing set. Every outlet location, every conduit run, every blocking requirement, and all panel schedule additions included before your electrician pulls permit. We attend design-phase meetings when invited and coordinate directly with your architect and interior designer on equipment room layout, in-wall speaker placement, and display wall blocking.

2

Rough-In

All Cat6A or fiber home runs pulled, labeled, and coiled in the SMC before drywall. In-wall speaker wire and conduit, AV equipment power and data, camera conduit and blocking, and patch panel rough-in — all installed to spec and fully documented for punch-down at trim-out. No mystery cables. No surprises when the walls close.

3

Trim-Out & Commission

One trim-out visit. Patch panel and switch termination, WiFi access point placement, smart home integration, AV installation and calibration, camera installation, and client walkthrough and training. All systems commissioned before your punch-list. Homeowner trained on the complete system before your final walk. Commissioning documentation delivered in your format.

4

Post-Close Support

30-day direct homeowner support line. As-built drawings in your format. When the homeowner calls at 9pm about the smart home — they call WITS, not you. System expansion capability documented so future additions don't require opening walls. Warranty coordination handled directly with manufacturers.

Why a single low-voltage trade partner changes the outcome of your project

The alternative is four subs. The cable guy runs Cat6 to locations agreed on in pre-construction. The AV installer shows up at trim-out and wants conduit that was not in the original spec. The security company runs their own wire through walls that are already painted. The smart home integrator discovers on commissioning day that nobody put a dedicated circuit behind the TV wall, the switch is in the wrong location, and half the devices are on the wrong VLAN because there is no VLAN — just a consumer router on a flat network.

When WITS is your low-voltage trade partner, this does not happen. Because we were in your pre-construction meeting. We spec'd the outlet locations, the conduit runs, the panel schedule additions, and the equipment room layout before your electrician pulled permit. The AV system, the security system, and the networking system are one integrated design — not four separate scopes bolted together at trim-out.

We serve custom and luxury home builders across all of Utah — from the Park City and Heber Valley mountain communities to the Wasatch Front urban corridor, from Ogden Valley to St. George. If you are building a custom home in Utah, we are within reach.

Cisco CCIE certified — why it matters on a custom home job site in Utah

Enterprise-grade network infrastructure is not optional in a custom luxury home. A $3M home in Promontory or Red Ledges with a consumer router and a flat network is an infrastructure failure that will surface at the worst possible moment — when the homeowner's board call drops because the Ring cameras saturated the 2.4GHz band, or when the Lutron lighting stops responding because the smart home hub lost its IP address.

WITS engineers hold Cisco CCIE certification — the credential used to design network infrastructure for hospitals, corporate campuses, and data centers — and they apply that same engineering to every custom home we wire. Proper VLAN segmentation keeps IoT devices, security cameras, and user devices on separate network segments. Correctly sized PoE switches power every camera and access point without dropped connections. WiFi access points are placed by signal modeling, not by where the blocking happened to be. This is whole home networking for custom builders in Utah at a level that no AV company, no cable installer, and no general handyman can deliver.

We also hold Kali Linux Professional certification for penetration testing and cybersecurity, Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud certifications, and PMP project management certification. The PMP is particularly relevant for custom home projects: we understand scope management, schedule coordination, and change order documentation. When the homeowner adds a media room at rough-in, we handle the scope change professionally — not with a hand-written note on a napkin.

We work with your architect and interior designer before the first nail is set

Interior designers and architects appear consistently in custom home builder reviews as the trade relationships that define the project experience. Technology decisions made in design phase — equipment room location, in-wall speaker placement, display wall blocking, lighting control system selection, networking closet square footage — either simplify the entire low-voltage scope or create expensive retrofit problems at every subsequent phase.

WITS participates in design-phase meetings when invited. We provide a low-voltage specification document compatible with the architect's drawing set. We coordinate with the interior designer on equipment locations, in-ceiling speaker placement, and display mounting details before those decisions become irreversible. Our pre-wire specification includes all conduit, blocking, and outlet schedule additions the electrical sub needs before permit.

Technology that is designed into a home performs better and looks better than technology retrofitted after framing. We help your design team spec it correctly so the finished home matches the rendering.

What builders tell us

What Utah custom home builders tell us they care about most

"The low-voltage sub missed the pre-wire window and we had to open drywall."

WITS confirms the pre-wire window at project kickoff and holds it. If the schedule shifts, we communicate before it becomes a problem.

"Coordinating four separate low-voltage subs is four separate scheduling problems."

WITS is one sub. Structured cabling, networking, smart home integration, AV installation, security cameras — one scope, one invoice, one point of contact.

"The homeowner called me six months after close because the smart home stopped working."

Every WITS project includes a 30-day post-close homeowner support period. After that, the homeowner calls WITS directly. Not you.

"My last AV installer created a punch-list nightmare at final walk."

We commission before your final walk. Every system tested, documented, and signed off. We do not leave until everything works.

"The smart home integrator wanted things at trim-out that were never in the original spec."

We deliver a written pre-wire specification at project kickoff. Every outlet location, every conduit run, every blocking requirement — in writing before your electrician pulls permit. No surprises.

"I need a sub who can talk to my architect."

We produce a low-voltage spec in a format compatible with architectural drawing sets. We attend design-phase meetings. We speak the same language as your design team.

"We build in remote areas — can you cover that?"

WITS serves all of Utah statewide. Park City, Heber, Ogden Valley, St. George, Cedar City, Moab — if you are building a custom luxury home in Utah, we are within reach.

Where we work — custom home builders across Utah

Utah Valley and the Wasatch Front is WITS home territory. Our Lehi headquarters puts us within 20 minutes of Alpine, Highland, Draper, South Jordan, Riverton, and every Utah County custom home community. Questions Utah custom home builders ask us most

Common questions about IT services for businesses and homes in Utah

A complete WITS low-voltage package for a custom home includes: structured cabling (Cat6A home runs to all drops), enterprise networking (VLAN-segmented switch, WiFi access points, SMC configuration), smart home integration (multi-platform setup and automation), AV installation (TV mounting, surround sound, whole-home audio calibrated to Dolby and DTS standards), security cameras (Ring, Nest, Arlo, or wired CCTV placed by coverage design), and smart locks. The scope is defined in a written pre-wire specification before framing — no surprises at trim-out.

We deliver a pre-wire specification document at project kickoff — formatted for your architectural drawing set — that includes every outlet location, every conduit run, every blocking requirement, and all panel schedule additions needed for low-voltage systems. Your electrician works from our spec before pulling permit. No conflicts at rough-in because the scope is defined before they start.

Cisco CCIE is the highest credential in network engineering — held by fewer than three percent of network engineers worldwide. For a custom home in Utah, it means the networking infrastructure was designed by someone who designs enterprise networks for hospitals and corporate campuses. Proper VLAN segmentation, correct PoE switch sizing, access point placement by signal modeling. The smart home devices work because the network was engineered to carry them — not hoped to be fast enough.

Yes. Home theater pre-wire is part of our standard scope. In-wall speaker wire, display wall conduit, equipment room rough-in, dedicated circuits for AV equipment — all specified before framing and installed at rough-in. At trim-out we install and calibrate the complete system to Dolby and DTS positioning standards. We have worked with custom builders who include dedicated theater rooms as a standard feature in their luxury homes.

We commission before your final walk. At trim-out, after all devices are installed and configured, we run a full system verification — every smart device, every automation routine, every camera feed, every AV system — and document the results. The homeowner walks through the complete system with a WITS engineer before your final walk. We do not leave until everything works and the homeowner knows how to use it. As-built documentation is delivered in your format.

We work statewide. Park City, Heber Valley, and Summit County are active markets for WITS — Promontory, Red Ledges, Tuhaye, Hideout, and Skyridge all have active custom home projects where we serve as low-voltage trade partner. We also serve the Ogden Valley mountain luxury market, the full Wasatch Front, and Southern Utah including St. George and Washington County. Distance is not a barrier for the right project.
